It has been two years since Myjobo, an online job search engine, was established and owners of the online platform claim they have over 23,000 registered users who receive daily job advertisement updates by email.
Myjobo.com was launched as a pilot to help employers reduce advertising costs, improve efficiency in recruitment processes and increase access to job opportunities and related information among Malawians.
Myjobo.com Manager, Bertha Mambala, said the jobsite has 176 registered employers with over 7,000 job vacancies posted on the site in the two years of its existence.
“Myjobo.com has had over six million visits carried out by over 350,000 unique visitors. The Facebook page has over 93,000 fans. Employers advertise jobs on myjobo.com for free once registered and can immediately post job vacancies online. Employers who need to access the CV database for job seekers request for authorisation to do so. Apart from job vacancies, Job seekers also access tips on careers, CV preparation, interviews, entrepreneurship among others,” explained Mambala.
Mambala said companies also buy advertising space.
“We have grown and we are now a fully functional site with more big employers registering and advertising jobs with us. Our platform enables thousands of people who are unable to access job vacancies and tips through other means,” said Mambala.
Commenting on the success of the jobsite Gloria Zimba, Human Resources Manager at Chibuku Products Limited said Chibuku Products gets responses within 10 minutes after posting a job advertisement.
“As an early adopter, we have used myjobo.com since 2014 and we have found it an ideal and very effective medium for reaching out to the best Malawian talent. We receive over 70 percent of the applications within the first week of posting a job advert. Being online means that people can find job vacancies anytime and share with their friend,” said Zimba.
