Personal data is stored in Myjobo’s database and is visualized in an appropriate form for employers and recruiters. Myjobo does not duplicate or share personal data without the explicit consent of the data subject.
Employers may collect, store, and process data from CVs related to job applications outside the Myjobo platform. In such cases, these employers become Data Controllers and must comply with applicable data protection laws and regulations in Malawi.
Prohibited Data Processing: Myjobo does not collect, store, or process sensitive personal data, such as:
• Racial or ethnic origin.
• Political views or religious beliefs.
• Trade union membership.
• Genetic or biometric data.
• Health-related information.
• Sexual orientation or sex life details.
• Information related to convictions and violations.
• Identity documents such as national IDs or passports.
Purposes of Processing
The primary purpose of collecting and processing personal data is to facilitate job seekers in finding employment and employers in finding suitable candidates. Myjobo will only collect and process data necessary for these purposes and will not use personal data for unrelated activities.
Categories of Data Recipients
Myjobo serves as a platform connecting job seekers with employers, employment agencies, and recruiters. Job seekers can provide their CVs and other personal data to these third parties by applying for job postings.
Once shared with these third parties, they become independent Data Controllers of the information. Any concerns regarding data management should be directed to the respective employer or recruiter.
Information on the Rights of Data Subjects
As a Myjobo user, you have the following rights concerning your personal data:
• Access and Management: You have continuous 24-hour access to your Myjobo account, except in cases of technical issues. Through your account, you can view, update, or delete the information you have provided.
• Consent Withdrawal: You may withdraw your consent for data processing by closing your account, which will result in the deletion of all associated data.
• Right to Object: You can object to the processing of your data if it is based on public interest, official authority, or legitimate interest.
Mandatory Data Provision
To register on Myjobo, you are required to provide a name and email address. Providing additional personal data is entirely optional and at the discretion of the job seeker.
Automated Decision-Making, Including Profiling
Myjobo may use cookies to enhance user experience. Cookies are small files stored on your device, enabling the platform to recognize your computer and deliver personalized services.
Myjobo may also permit third parties, such as advertisers or analytics providers, to collect information through cookies. Users can manage or delete cookies by visiting www.allaboutcookies.org.
Data Retention Period
• Myjobo will store user information if the account is active, with a maximum retention period of 5 years of inactivity. After this period, inactive accounts will be automatically deleted.
• For users who access Myjobo services without registering, submitted data will be stored for 90 days and then deleted.
Data Transfers to Third Countries
If you submit your CV to employers or agencies outside Malawi, your data may be transferred to those jurisdictions. You will be informed of this in the employer’s job posting.
Data Security at Myjobo
Myjobo prioritizes the protection of your personal data through the following measures:
• Data is safeguarded against loss, destruction, distortion, unauthorized access, and disclosure.
• Myjobo does not sell or trade personal data.
