DAPP Malawi is seeking a qualified and committed person for the position of Wholesale Manager in the DAPP Malawi Clothes & Shoes Wholesale Fundraising Project


As it is known across the entire country DAPP Malawi operates a Clothes & Shoes Wholesale Fundraising Project. The purpose is to generate funds for the various development projects such as the 4 Teacher Training Colleges, the 400 Primary school project,  Mikolongwe Vocational School, the Farmers’ Clubs, Health and Child Aid projects – together benefitting more than half a million people each year.


The person we are looking for is therefore one who has development for the rural poor close at heart and who is an experienced and super dedicated Wholesale Manager with good leadership skills.

DAPP Malawi Clothes & Shoes Wholesale Fundraising Project currently consists of a sorting center in Blantyre and 11 wholesale outlets scattered across the country – which all must be managed by a professional to achieve the purpose of the project.

 

Selected key areas of Responsibilities:

  1. Managing:
    • Implement the project’s strategy and targets in alliance with own competencies and in coordination with DAPP Management.
    • Develop and control project’s sales budget according to agreed business plans, organize and lead the outlets' sales activities;
    • Strive to reach the budget sales in tons and turnover to create funds for the Development projects.
    • Develop sales strategies and implement them together with the outlet managers and the sales staff.
    • Monitor cost and sales price development and be upfront when changes need to be done.
    • Control prices and act immediately, if the pricelists are not followed.
    • Secure supply and deliveries to the outlets to ensure the target goals.
    • Control goods inventory process and identify shortages;
    • Control cash and payment system and maintain cash flows safety (banking, theft prevention);
    • Day to day management of the sales forces and their work in the outlets in all 3 regions of Malawi;
    • Coordinate, monitor and analyze the project’s financial and administrative management solutions; ensure their economic and legal feasibility, agreement with interests of the organization, follow up results with budget; report about detected discrepancies and problems, and provide suggestions for improvements;
    • Deal with the implementation of administrative, legal, accounting and tax issues, ensuring meeting timelines and correspondence to legislation.
  2. Reporting:
    • Provide the accurate, reliable, complete and within the timelines required, report about budget status to Management (Daily, weekly, and quarterly).

 

Requirements for this job:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a sales leadership role in wholesale, included budget implementation and management of several sales outlets; preferred experience in opening shops; preferred background from national or regional stores.
  • Proven track record in securing successful business operations;
  • Passion for sales and ability to mobilize and build capacity of the Sales Staff
  • Higher education or equivalent work experience;
  • Good knowledge of modern fashion; textile, clothes and footwear products;
  • High level of self-motivation, precision and commitment to results;
  • Very good communication skills and abilities;
  • Key provisions of the Legal and Economic framework for conducting commercial activities and international trade;
  • Fluency in English and public official language;
  • IT literacy.
  • Honest and non-corrupt attitude to all business and staff dealings.
  • Service-minded leadership style that actively promotes that each staff member succeeds through control and support.
