Pentecostal Life University (PLU), a faith based institution recognized, registered and accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following challenging position:


This is a senior and highly demanding position that requires higher education academicians who have the capacity to oversee and provide the academic direction of the university, developing and expanding the university’s interests academically and financially as well as initiate administrative and managerial innovations geared at making the University able to grow, compete successfully while pleasing various stakeholders in line with 21st Century Higher Education Global Trends

Duties and Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide leadership in the planning and development of both academic and administrative activities including the development and implementation of the strategic plans as well as spear heading corporate planning across the university policies, teaching and research programmes.
  • Ensure that the academic programs are implemented according to the Universities long-term and short-term plans and consistently satisfy and are in compliance with the accreditation requirements.
  • Provide leadership in the recruitment and selection of qualified instructors by developing the necessary guidelines and procedures to be used by the hiring committees of the University or outside agencies as needed.
  • Provide leadership in various committees for curriculum review and development, instruction, learning resource development and similar undertakings.
  • Formulating, reviewing and directing the implementation of operational guidelines, systems development and implementation of an effective and efficient system that maximize the utilization of human, physical and financial resources and procedures to ensure efficient effective performance in line with the dynamic environment.
  • Facilitate local and international partnership with institutions of higher learning.
  • Be a member of all University committees and chair the Senate and a number of committees of the Council and the Senate.
  • Supervise the faculty deans of the University, Director of Quality Assurance, Director of Research and Publications, evaluating and approving their recommendations for faculty hiring, promotion, and tenure.
  • Aggressively mobilize resources for the university and supervise budget preparation for the academic and academic-related programs, allocating and reallocating funds and resources to and from these programs.
  • Provide leadership in creating and maintaining academic standards and policies.
  • Furthering the university’s interests by networking with academic and business organizations across the world.
  • Overseeing learning, teaching, and the student experience across the university

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

  • Minimum of Ph.D. in any field of study with over 5 years of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels with higher level research experience. Those with a rank of full professor shall have an added advantage.
  • Must have proven track record of supervising postgraduate students and substantial scholarly achievement demonstrated by publications in referred books and journals.
  • Be a Professional and Regulatory Compliant who is ready to grow the value of the university.
  • Manage upbeat and rewarding higher education corporate culture that attracts and retains skilled and competent lecturers.
  • Must have excellent analytical, problem solving, decision making and information technology skills ready to inculcate a culture of excellence across the university.
  • Must have a higher level of understanding of the management of a higher education institution operating in a dynamic and complex environment and be familiar with challenges facing universities in the 21st century.
