Job Description

PSI Malawi is a professional, inspirational, and innovative Non- Governmental Organization whose objectives are to improve and sustain the health of vulnerable Malawians through cost-effective social marketing of essential, high quality products and services, and implementation of evidence based behaviour change communication strategies.

To support our ongoing and growing portfolio of health intervention activities, we are seeking applications from Young men and Women who are suited to PSI Malawi’s working environment, for the following Temporally position:

Position: Temporary Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) Assistants 

Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:
  • Participate in pre-study orientation process and pre-testing of the study tools
  • Follow the given study protocol in identification of study participants
  • Administer questionnaires or facilitate discussions to collect study data
  • Transcribe and translate texts and recorded voice files from Chichewa to English
  • Undertake preliminary data analysis exercise
  • Transfer data from paper formats into computer files or MIS systems
  • Verify data by comparing source documents before data entry exercise
  • Retrieve data from the database or electronic files as requested
  • Perform regular backups to ensure data preservation
  • Sort and organize hard copy files after entering data to ensure they are kept safe
  • Undertake any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor in order to produce quality work

  • At least a University Degree or Diploma in Statistics, Project Management, Social Sciences, Development Studies or a related field
  • Relevant experience and skills in Quantitative or Qualitative research and Data entry applications will be an added advantage
  • Good listening and report writing skills
  • Good Interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in English and at least two local languages
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Analytical, hardworking, motivated and committed to excellence
  • Be ready and willing to collect data in rural areas
  • Be available from time to time to assist with study data collection and data entry
  • Proven experience as Data entry clerk
  • Fast and accurate typing skills on data collection devices
  • Excellent knowledge of word processing toe’ and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of office equipment and computer hardware and peripheral devices
  • Basic understanding of databases/Management Information Systems e.g DHIS2
  • Excellent attention to detail
