Global Hope Mobilization (GLOHOMO) is a Malawian non-profit making organization, registered with CONGOMA, NGO Board, and the Malawi Government under the Trustees’ incorporation act and is working towards contributing to the Sustainable Developmental Goals and the Malawi Growth Development Strategy III for the uplifting of the vulnerable and marginalized.

GLOHOMO wishes to recruit staff of ages from 18-35 to work on Ana Patsogolo Program under USAID for 5 Years which will be implemented in the districts of Thyolo and Machinga.

GLOHOMO, therefore, invites applications from interested and qualified candidate to fill the vacancy of Technician Specialist Parenting Officer.

Job Title: Technical Specialist - Parenting

Reports to: Technical Lead OVC

Program/Project : USAID / Malawi Ana Patsogolo Activity

Location : Blantyre Malawi

Job Summary

The Technical Specialist Parenting (TSP) supports and manages the technical implementation of all Parenting and Early Childhood Development (ECD) activities under the USAID funded Ana Patsogolo project in 8 districts in the Southern Region of Malawi. She/he will provide oversight and technical support in the implementation of evidence-based curricula designed to improve positive parenting practices for OVC and AGYW. The role is critical in ensuring all parenting and ECD activities lead to HIV/GBV/VAC reduction, uptake of HTS services; ART adherence, and viral load suppression for OVC and AGYW. Working with Technical Specialists and 5 partners, the TSP will have the following responsibilities:

Key Result Areas Specific Responsibilities and Duties

Programme Management and Implementation

  • Provide technical oversight for the implementation of HIV and gender-sensitive parenting and ECD activities in line with national policy and PEPFAR 3.0 goals.
  • Lead the development of parenting/ECD program design, drawing on evidence and best practices.
  • Coordinate and spearhead the development of appropriate parenting/ ECD tools and standards for the implementation of project activities.
  • Strengthen linkages and coordination between parenting/ECD programming, and other critical HIV, GBV, and social protection services.
  • Designs integrate and support the implementation of parenting and ECD services onto other existing programming platforms such as Villages Savings and Loans Association.
  •  Train, mentor, supervise, and support partner organisations in the implementation of all parenting and ECD activities.
  • Design and oversee the delivery of supportive supervision to partners during the implementation of parenting and ECD activities.
  • Collaborate closely with other technical specialists across all the intermediate results of the program.
    ● Liaise with the M&E team in tracking and reporting related targets
  • Compile quarterly and annual progress reports
  • Keep abreast of emerging evidence and promote innovation across ECD and Parenting technical areas and disseminate new knowledge to program staff.

Job Specifications

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development Education or other relevant professional qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in parenting and ECD programming and/ or training, teaching in parenting, or ECD skills.
  • Experience in delivering high-quality training and support supervision for program teams and partners.
  • Commitment to using quantitative and qualitative evidence to improve programming.
  • Excellent reporting skills, capturing qualitative outcomes in integrated care and support OVC/ parenting programs
  • Experience working with USAID-funded programs.
  • Proven ability to influence policy direction and decisions at district and national levels
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and leadership.
