Job Description

Job Title: Storekeeper

Reporting To: Area Coordinator/Logistics Manager

Job Location: Chikwawa

GOAL maintains close working relationships with district authorities and relevant line ministries.

General Description of the Role

To keep all stores clean, orderly and accessible at all times and to ensure the security of all items in the stores during working hours.

  • To ensure that all stock in the stores is accessible at all times.
  • Updating all stock documents regularly
  • That all the stores are regularly cleaned and free from obstacles.
  • That all stock is in its correct position in relation to directions from the Logistics Officer.
  • To organise the loading, unloading and stocking of all stores when stock arrives or is to be taken out.
  • Physical stock of the stores must tally with book balances at all times
  • To ensure, through instructions from the Logistics Officer, that all stock is accounted for at any given time.

Key Duties

Stock Management
  • Ensure all stock is in its correct positions and easily accessible.
  • Updating of stock/bin cards and SMS on a daily basis
  • To physically verify all stocks received and dispatched.
  • Ensuring that all the proper paper work is done that is Internal Requisition Forms, Delivery Dockets, Good in Docket/Goods Receipt Notes, Packing Lists and any other documentation according to GOAL Stores Section.
  • Completion of the Good in Docket/Goods Receipt Notes after every receipt with coordination with Logistics officer and procurement staff

Daily monitoring of stock organisation.
  • Organisation of the loading and unloading of goods from vehicles.
  • Ensuring the correct amount of stock leaves the stores as authorised.
  • Immediate reporting of all missing stock or any observed discrepancies.
  • Ensure that all stock/bin cards are kept up to date at all times
  • Always checking on expiry dates of stocks and using the FIFO procedure to minimise losses through unobserved expiries.

  • Thorough cleaning of all stores should be done daily.
  • Floors should be kept free of all obstacles.
  • Stores kept free of vermin.
  • Stores should be kept in an orderly manner

Security of stock
  • Ensuring that all stocks are secure and stock levels are per their level on the appropriate bin-card.
  • Ensuring that the stores are in a lockable state and quickly report on any insecurities on the stores.

Requirements (Person Specification)
  • Diploma in Logistics or stores management
  • Knowledge of both spoken and written English.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Physical ability to aid in the correct loading and unloading of materials on/from vehicles.
  • Ability to interact with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Attention to detail is imperative.
  • A strong work ethic with a desire to learn.
  • Flexible in terms of working hours.
