Job Description

We have been retained by our client Roads Fund Administration to carry out an executive search for suitably qualifying persons to fill the various positions which are tenable within the organization and as detailed below. Position: Station Officer (1 post)

Location: Dedza

Position purpose The Station officer who is also known as (Senior Toll Collector or Toll Gate Supervisor) will be reporting to the Director of Finance. The position will be responsible for daily operational aspects of the toll gate and will support the daily activities associated with customer service. The position will provide leadership for toll collectors and will evaluate all assigned personnel and ensure adherence to all policies and procedures. The position will monitor all toll operations functionality by gathering pertinent data identifying and evaluating options; and recommending a course of action. The position will resolve issues, concerns, and customer disputes under management’s direction.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Supervise daily toll gate operations while working a 24×7 schedule, handle collector call outs to maintain proper lane coverage, and coordinate toll gate activity with other departments as needed;
  •  Actively monitor all toll operations functions throughout the assigned shift;
  •  Provide the highest level of customer service and professionalism at all times;
  •  Ensure that security is adequate Required Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities

  •  Detailed knowledge of collection practices and procedures (i.e. cash and electronic collection operations) including reports and system monitoring devises;
  •  Working knowledge of customer service operations;
  •  Ability to provide effective leadership to a diverse workforce in a challenging 24/7 operation;
  •  Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining an attitude of composure;
  •  Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to exercise judgement within generally defined practices and policies;
  •  Good computer skills including knowledge of basic Microsoft Windows programs (word, excel, etc);
  •  Effective oral and written communication skills;
  •  Ability to handle confidential information;
  •  Ability to provide superior customer service with high level of integrity.

Required Qualifications and experience

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field;
  •  Five (5) years relevant work experience (at a call centre/ customer service)
  •  Supervisory or management experience.
