Job Description

FDH Financial Holdings Limited, one of the leading financial services organizations in Malawi, invites applications from energetic, aggressive, self-motivated, suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following positions tenable in its Information Technology Department, based at the Head office in Blantyre.


Position: Specialist, Application Development (4 Positions)


Reporting to the Principal Consultant, the successful candidate shall be responsible for analyzing, designing and implementing software solutions and reporting for effective operation of business units.


Key responsibilities:

  • • Coordinates and manages reporting needs and data analysis for FDH Financial Holdings Limited.
    • Ensures that the gathering, processing, distribution and use of pertinent information required by management to make decisions occur in a timely, accurate and cost effective manner.
    • Offers support on Core Banking System, Cheque Clearing System, SWIFT, RTGS and Electronic Banking System ensuring that all support issues are dealt with effectively to maintain high system uptime.
    • Troubleshoots application database problems in T24 and the underlying Database System in conjunction with the Database Specialist.
    • Produces Ad Hoc Reports from the Core Systems as may be required from time to time for planning and control purposes.
    • Oversees the development, design, and implementation of new applications and changes to existing computer systems and software packages.
    • Assists with the analysis, development, implementation, installation and operation of information systems for the company.
    • Identifies irregularities, actual or potential problems with the application systems and escalates to Management.
    • Maintains a log of all application downtime for all applications Tests, installs and verifies the correct operation of any patches, programs or batch files that are received from the Core System vendors.
    • Develops systems in line with set security standards.


    Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

    • Bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or any related fields obtained from a recognized institution.
    • The job holder is required to have 5 years of relevant experience in:
    • Coding experience in at least 3 top programming languages
    • Experience with Structured Query Language
    • Knowledge of core banking systems
