Job Description

INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND 

Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi (NMCM) is the regulatory body of Nurses and Midwives established in 1966 under the act of parliament Laws of Malawi Cap 3002. NMCM is mandated to develop, maintain, monitor, evaluate and control the profession of Nursing and Midwifery thereby contributing to the national goal of promoting the health status of Malawians. As a regulatory, NMCM has the role of regulating the education, training, practice and professional conduct of Nursing and Midwifery personnel in the country in order to protect the public from unsafe practice. In order to effectively execute its functions, NMCM is in the process of opening regional offices in North and Southern Region in a phases. Therefore, NMCM is now urgently looking for suitable individuals to fill the following positions:



Position: SENIOR OFFICE ASSISTANT (1 position for Lilongwe Office)



Main purpose of the job: reporting to the Assistant Administration Officer, the Senior Office Assistant shall be responsible for overseeing the messengerial activities of the Council.


KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carrying out photocopying and duplicating work and binding photocopied or duplicated matter into required documents accordingly
  • Managing the photocopying, duplicating and binding machines efficiently and reporting faults for maintenance
  • Participating in loading and offloading Council items within Council premises
  • Receipt of goods on delivery and verifying that goods delivered are in good order, match with delivery note and specification details appearing on both requisition orders and invoices
  • Maintaining proper stock records for consumables such as stationery and office supplies, updating bin cards and stock record registers in use in order to control usage and ensure availability at all times including alerting Management when re-order levels of stock items are reached.
  • Issuing stocks to respective user Departments/ Sections/ Units
  • Managing stores and assisting in stock taking
  • Participating in preparing and serving refreshments to Council employees during meetings
  • making official door to door errands to deliver or pick items, mail, documents as required
  • Any other duties as assigned from time to time



MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least MSCE of Education plus
  • Four years’ experience at messenger level and
  • Certificate in Machine operation.
