Job Description

The Malawi Institute of Management (MIM) is Malawi’s premier Institute in leadership and management training, research and consulting. The Institute would like to recruit for the following positions tenable at its main campus in Kanengo, Lilongwe.

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor in Information and Communication Technology

Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Dean of Leadership and Management, the successful candidate will be in charge for teaching assigned modules, perform learner tutorial duties and carry out academic assessments.

Key Responsibilities;

The incumbent shall be expected to:

  • Champion ICT module development, delivery, project supervision, assessment setting and marking for both full time and part-time courses;
  • Design and develop teaching and learning materials (including e-learning);
  • Supervise academic research projects as well as off-campus research consultancies within the ICT industry;
  • Participate in the delivery of outreach activities to market the MIM Business School to potential partner institutes and learners;
  • Undertake risk assessment strategies for the programme area in relation to teaching and learning;
  • Plan, design and develop IT solutions for the MIM Business School with regard to web applications, e-Learning and multimedia presentation; and,
  • Conduct research and disseminate research results.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A PhD or Masters’ Degree in Computer Science or Information and Communication Technology
  • At least 3 years of practical experience in teaching ICT related courses both at Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to teach the following courses: Linux Administration and Mobile Application Development, Artificial Intelligence (Al), Geographical Information Systems;
  • Be a reflective practitioner, evaluating and improving own practice in order to take teaching and learning forward
  • Should have strong and proven research skills
  • Should possess pedagogical skills
