Blantyre Baptist Academy (BBA) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the position of School Principal. This is a senior position reserved for a highly ambitious, progressive and inspirational team leader.

ABOUT BLANTYRE BAPTIST ACADEMY

Blantyre Baptist Academy is a private co-educational school situated in Nancholi, Blantyre and caters for both boarders and day scholars. It offers high quality education in both International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the local Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) curricula. The curriculum at Blantyre Baptist Academy is enriched in order to produce all-rounders who make their way through life marked by excellence.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Principal will serve as the chief administrator of Blantyre Baptist Academy in developing and implementing policies, programs, curriculum activities, and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Principal’s primary duties and key responsibilities will include:

• Operational and Administrative Duties and Responsibilities such as leading in the planning, reviewing, and implementation of  goals and strategies, proposing policies or policy changes,  ensure that the policies and directions of the Board are consistently implemented, and oversee the operations, curriculum, finance and marketing functions of the Academy.

 

• Instructional Leadership and Development Duties and Responsibilities such as promoting excellence, equality and high expectations for all students, providing for the development of the classical, Christian model, and the training of teachers to effectively integrate the classical and Christian methods and objectives into their teaching, encouraging growth of the Academy through in-service opportunities and continued education, and representing the Academy at any fora or associations with common interests.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate:

• Excellent Communication Skills,
• Assertiveness and Self-confidence,
• High levels of Integrity and Ethical Standards,
• Must be a practicing Christian and of sober habits,
• With good leadership Skills.
• He/she must be an ardent supporter of the Classical, Christian, Community Approach to education as described in the school’s Vision and Mission Statement.
• The candidate must also demonstrate excellent understanding of IGCSE Business.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate should have the following minimum qualifications and level of experience:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education from a recognized university. Those with Master’s degree will have an added advantage.
• 10 years’ teaching experience, at least 5 years of which should be at school management level.
• Has experience in administration and management and is able to think strategically and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrates organization, diplomacy, academic expertise, articulate speech, spiritual discipline and prayerfulness.
• A mature individual, comfortable to speak to all levels including the leadership team, Board of Directors and the broader organization.
