Job Description

Agricultural Commodity Exchange for Africa Situated in Malawi, ACE delivers agricultural marketing and financial services to all value chain participants, The core offering being structured trade services; market information, trade facilitation and the Warehouse Receipt System (WRS), which offers access to collateral finance and access to secure storage. Within the agricultural industry, ACE is introducing transparency, decreasing transactional costs and governing contractual relations between market participants. Considering the wide range of activities and the need for quality Information driven decision making,

ACE is looking to recruit an experienced 4 Rural Market Advisors to support all activities.



Position: RURAL MARKETING ADVISORS (4 Posts)




Rural Marketing Advisors (RMAs) to be based in Balaka, Machinga, Ntchisi and Mulanje.



ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



The successful candidate will report directly to the Field Coordinator and will work hand in hand with Warehouse Personnel located in their area of operation.

The candidate will be expected spend 90% of their time in the field in their area of operation carrying out the following tasks:

  • Conduct awareness raising and training activities with a diverse range of potential ACE clients (farmers, farmer groups, agribusinesses)
  • Network, identify and establish strong working relationships with rural stakeholders
  • Profile potential ACE clients for the ACE market information system
  • Collect weekly price information for key commodities in designated trading centres and markets
  • Link ACE clients to live trading opportunities
  • Facilitate trades on the ACE platform and ensure that all necessary requirements for a successful trade are met i.e. grading, transportation and other logistics.
  • Compile and submit work plans and reports


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Agriculture or similar field. Those with a background or experience in marketing will have an added advantage
  • Knowledge and experience in adult education is essential
  • Experience of training people in agribusiness operations (for example, profit margin calculations)
  • Good general knowledge of price trends of different crops in Malawi and yield potentials
  • Good ICT skills (MS Office, Internet).
