Organisation: Malawi Environmental Endowment Trust (MEET)

Duty Station: Blantyre, Malawi


The mission of the Malawi Environmental Endowment Trust (MEET) is to mobilize, manage and disburse financial resources to support actions that yield positive conservation results and contribute to sustainable development.

In order to achieve this, MEET manages a grant facility that awards grants to various partners to facilitate the implementation of projects that address challenges within the environmental and natural resource management sector.

In 2019, the Board approved MEET’s 2019 – 2023 Strategic Plan and Resource Mobilisation Strategy. A key pillar of the Strategic Plan is the need to catalyse, broaden and diversify MEET’s funding base in order to upscale the level of investment required to make meaningful impact on natural resource and climate change issues. MEET is therefore seeking to recruit an exceptional, experienced and dynamic individual for the position of Resource Mobilisation Officer.

Main Responsibility


Under the direction of MEET’s Coordinator, the Resource Mobilisation Officer will oversee and support
implementation of MEET’s Resource Mobilisation Strategy in order to achieve MEET’s Strategic and Resource Mobilization objectives.


  • Review MEET’s Strategy documents and develop communication materials that help position the Trust for Resource Mobilization
  • Develop, implement and monitor an annual resource mobilization workplan/action plan with clear goals and a budget
  • Take the lead in identifying bilateral, multilateral, philanthropic or private sector funding opportunities and maintain a database that lists and prioritizes funding prospects.
  • Respond to Calls for Proposals by managing and reviewing all documentation related to the call, by writing concept notes and proposals and identifying project partners if and when required;
  • Archive successful and unsuccessful proposals for future use or reference;
  • Establish and cultivate strong donor relations and maintain regular communication with donors, private sector and other prospective sponsors
  • Support the Coordinator to organize visits, briefings and events with current and prospective funding partners;
  • To assist in mobilizing non-financial resources from private sector, individuals and other corporate entities
  • Prepare regular Resource Mobilization updates and report on the implementation status of the Resource Mobilization Strategy;
  • Support other departments in the management of donor supported projects (e.g. donor agreements, work planning, budgeting, reporting as per donor requirements)
  • Represent MEET at forum and meetings in order to position the institution with funding and technical partners.


  • A post-graduate Degree in any of the following: Marketing, Communication, Business Administration, International Relations/Development (from a recognised University) or related degree that can demonstrate the capability to carry out the functions of the position.
  • Knowledge and experience interest in Conservation, Climate Change, Biodiversity Conservation, Innovative Financing Mechanisms and Environmental related issues in general would be an added advantage.


  • A minimum of 8 years work experience in a position with similar duties
  • A track record and demonstrated experience in resource mobilization, proposal development and donor relations
  • Experience in private sector engagement would be an added advantage
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Internet and Email
  • Fluent in English with excellent communication skills
  • Record / Document Management

  • Self-motivated and results oriented
  • Excellent negotiation, time management, communication, inter-personal, analytical and organization skills

  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Personable and well groomed
