Resource Mobilisation & Communication Officer

Job Description

Society for Women and AIDS in Malawi (SWAM) is a non-governmental, non-political, non-profit making and self-governing organisation that exists to promote the participation of women and children in the response to HIV and AIDS by empowering them to exercise their rights in response to the growing pandemic.


Contract type: Short-term (1st May – 31st December 2020). Renewable depending on availability of funds and performance.

Location: the Secretariat, Blantyre.

Reporting to: The Country Coordinator.

Key responsibilities.

  • Identify potential donors; raise resources through various means for to support SWAM projects and activities
  • Involve and build sustainable Resource Development (RD) Programs
  • Develop and maintains Resource Development program database to track prospective and actual donors
  • Manage the work of other communication staffs, as appropriate
  • Monitoring members and donors and ensure their engagements for resource mobilisation, visibility and sustainability of SWAM
  • Maintaining grants tracker and calendar, to ensure well-planned and targeted responses to requests for proposals (RFPs)
  • Support the creation of concept notes, proposals and reports
  • Oversee the design and production of materials that effectively communicate organisation’s mission and work in the country
  • Gather information with a view to finding relevant information to be pitched to the media.
  • Closely monitor national and international media outlets and updates SWAM staff with relevant information and promptly respond to any issue related to SWAM
  • Write, edit and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches and other materials that communicate the organisation’s activities
  • Proficiency in design and publishing softwares.

  • Diploma in Journalism, Communications or related field
  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant working experience preferably in resource mobilization and communication project implementation
  • Excellent proficiency and communication skill in English
  • Good level of behavioural competencies.
  • Remuneration will be commensurate with qualification and experience.
