Job Description

The National Construction Industry Council (NCIC) was established in Malawi through an Act of Parliament (Cap 53:05) of the Laws of Malawi to promote, regulate and develop the Construction Industry in Malawi.

The Council is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position in its establishment, to be based at the I-lead Office. The position is on permanent and pensionable terms.

Reporting to the Regulatory & Enforcement Director, the requirements for the positions are as stipulated below:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Be aged 30 years and above;
  • Should possess a Bachelors’ Degree in any of the following disciplines: Engineering, Architecture, Building Economics, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or any equivalent relevant qualification from a recognized Institution,
  • Should have a minimum of three years’ work experience in the Construction Industry or related field;
  • Should have self-drive, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team working spirit, supervisory and leadership skills;
  • Should be a strategic thinker with excellent planning and prioritization skills;
  • Registration with a Professional Board related to the Construction Industry will be an added advantage; and
  • Should be able to work odd hours and during weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities shall include:
  • General registration of all firms in the Construction Industry
  • Conducting due diligence exercise on applications for approval process registration and renewals on all firms
  • Preparing action plans for the registration office and be responsible for timely execution of the same
  • Sensitising stakeholders on registration requirements and conditions of operation
  • Coordinating the process of producing and issuing of registration certificates
  • Liaising with the accounts personnel on appropriate fees to be paid by firms
  • Providing full back-up for all registration records and services, including provision of technical advice on all registration matters
  • Evaluating effectiveness of existing policies and procedures related to registration matters and recommending necessary changes
  • Ensuring accuracy and timeliness of registration data through close coordination with stakeholders and staff
  • Organizing meetings on registration matters for Regulation and Enforcement Committee, Associations, Professional Boards, etc. and producing appropriate reports
  • Perform related duties as required by the Supervisor from time to time.
