Job Description

World Relief is an international Christian NGO working in health, economic development, disaster response, and refugee resettlement. World Relief’s mission is empowering local churches to serve the most vulnerable.

USAID awarded World Relief Malawi the Strengthening Community Health Outcomes through Positive Engagement (SCOPE) HIV project which seeks to address gaps in HIV care and treatment in order to achieve 95-95-95 goals by increasing HIV education, case finding, referral, and the return to care, and by raising awareness and justice for children by engaging faith communities, men and youth, and girls and young women at the grassroots level. The agreement period for award is March 1, 2020 to September 30, 2022.

World Relief Malawi, through the SCOPE HIV project, collaborates with key stakeholders to increase access to and utilisation of HIV care and treatment services, increase faith and community-based capacity and engagement in HIV prevention, care and treatment, influence behavior change towards seeking HIV care and treatment and SGBV services and strengthened linkages and retention for HIV care and treatment of the target population in Machinga, Mangochi, and Lilongwe Districts.

World Relief Malawi therefore invites applications from interested and qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position:

Job title: Project SASA! Faith Supervisors (2 Positions)
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Location: Machinga/Mangochi

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Project Coordinator at District level, the Project SASA!Faith supervisors will be responsible for community mobilization and awareness creation and delivery of SCOPE Project interventions. The SASA!Faith Supervisor will work hand in hand with Faith Network Supervisors to deliver evidence based models such as Messages of Hope and SASA!Faith along with WR’s Transformation Tree and Vision Casting to bring forth the development of communities in their assigned Traditional Authorities.

Specific Functions:

  • Facilitate community mobilization and project awareness on SASA!Faith that prevents the spread of HIV and violence against women.
  • Train community groups in SASA!Faith, Messages of Hope and Community based comprehensive HCT.
  • In liaison with Faith Network Supervisors, and collaboration with network of SASA!Faith promoters and volunteers at the community level, train faith leaders and faith networks to shift Community Norms and disseminate Messages of Hope, and offer support to rolling out of trainings, male & youth friendly services and those for SGBV.
  • Train and Support SASA!Faith Facilitators in the development of bi-weekly action plans and reports.
  • Ensure reporting and SGBV referral network is active in each district and program T/A.
  • Participate in review meetings and M&E activities.
  • Ensure Monthly reports and Indicator Performance Tracking Tables are completed and submitted to the project coordinator for consolidation.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by supervisor from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Rural Development, Social Work, HIV/AIDS, Theology, or related field
  • At least a minimum of three (3) years practical experience in working with faith institutions in rural communities
  • Committed religious person.
  • Good working experience in Community mobilization and participatory rural appraisal.
  • Good budgeting and reporting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Computer literacy.
