Job Description

Malawi Human Rights Resource Center (MHRCC) is a local human Rights NGO with the mandate of promoting and strengthening a human rights culture, democratic values and principles in Malawi. “MHRRC is an equal opportunity Employer”

MHRRC seeks to engage the services of:


POSITION: PROJECT OFFICER 



Reporting to the Head of Programmes, the key responsibilities of the Project Officer will be as follows:

  • Work with the Head of programmes to develop project work plans /Budgets
  • Coordinate implementation of project activities on daily basis
  • Ensure efficient utilization of financial resources
  • Compile quarterly, biannual and annual project reports
  • Participate in resource mobilization initiatives together with other technical members of staff
  • Ensure inclusive participatory monitoring and evaluation of the project.
  • Ensure that the project is implemented in a manner that enables the target beneficiaries meet their economic, social and cultural needs and at the same time realize their rights, through application of a human rights-based approach.
  • Keep records of all project activities including field reports and minutes of meetings
  • Prepare periodic reports as well as field reports to be submitted to Head of programmes


PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS


Essential

  • Must have a degree in social science or any other related field with 5 years working experience
  • Must be computer literate and have good communication skills
  • Knowledge of rights-based approach to programme implementation a plus
  • Experience working with an NGO in Human Rights and Governance is an added advantage.


Desirable:

  • Strong writing, oral and presentation skills.
  • Result oriented
  • Self-starter
  • Ready to work even during odd hours and with minimum supervision.
  • Team player.
