The Hunger Project Malawi (THP-Mw) is a branch of the Global Hunger Project, a non-profit, strategic organization committed to the sustainable end of world hunger and poverty. Our vision is a world where every woman, man and child Iead a healthy, fulfilling life of self-reliance and dignity. Our mission is to end hunger and poverty by pioneering sustainable, grassroots, women-centered strategies and advocate for their widespread adoption in countries throughout the world. THP-Malawi has been operating in Malawi since 1979 and is currently running programs and projects in nine districts namely,
Blantyre, Chikhwawa, Dedza, Neno, Nsanje, Ntcheu, Phalombe, Salima and Zomba.

THP-Mw has received funding from CBM to implement a project called “Promoting Disability mainstreaming in food and nutrition security” in Ntcheu, Phalombe and Nsanje Districts for a period of five years.

THP-Mw wishes to recruit project staff for the position of Project Field Officers (6 posts)

Position: Project Field Officers (6 posts)

Job summary

Reporting to the Project Manager, specifically, the Job Holder will be responsible for:

• Facilitating implementation of food security, nutrition, natural resource management and microfinance project activities in one of the project districts of Nsanje, Ntcheu
• and Phalombe
• Ensuring disability issues are always mainstreamed in all project activities.
• Mobilizing communities to implement various project activities in the participating villages.
• Working with various lead farmer, Village Natural Resource Management Committees (VNRMCs) village savings and loans groups in making sure that project targets are achieved.
• Mentor and coach Village Savings and Loan group members in different business enterprises
• Collecting relevant data on progress of projects activities in villages where project activities are being implemented.
• Supervising and monitor all activities being carried out in the project sites
• Working hand in hand with the Project committees and ensure that various project committees established are working effectively.
• Supporting and organizing the District Executive Committee, donor and other key project stakeholder’s supervision visits to the project sites.
• Compiling weekly, monthly. quarterly reports and send to the Project Manager
• Any other relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time by the line supervisor

Qualifications and competencies

• Must have at least a Diploma in Natural Resources Management, Agriculture, Nutrition or Rural development from recognized institution.
• At least 5 years’ experience working with Non-Governmental Organization on similar job.
• Should possess strong community facilitation skills
• Should be self-motivated -willingness to work with minimal supervision
• Strong report writing skills
• Willing to work and stay in remote areas.
• Able to ride a motorbike and have valid motor cycle riding license.
