Job Description

Background

DAPP Malawi in partnership with VALE Logistics Limited and CEAR will implement a one year capacity building project in areas of vocational skills training among households along Kachasu - Nayuchi railway line (covering five districts of Machinga, Balaka, Mwanza, Neno and Chikwawa) with an aim of improving the socio-economic and environmental conditions of the population under the influence of operations, through a set of actions that guarantee income generation in order to raise their quality of life and the sustainability of communities. The trainings will be carried out through an outreach program.

DAPP Malawi therefore seeks to hire services of qualified individuals for the following positions:



Position: Project Coordinator



The project coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the project, collection of information, preparing weekly, monthly and quarterly plans and reports, facilitating community mobilisation activities including social and environmental impact aspects. In liaison with the Grant Administrator, the Project Manager and Finance manager, the project coordinator will be responsible for preparing budgets and ensuring that all financial requirements and standards are adhered to.



Requirements



The job requirements for the Project Coordinator profile are as follows:

  • The individual should have a Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Community Development, Social Sciences and any other related field obtained from a reputable and accredited university
  • He/she must have demonstrated knowledge of project cycle management and community based project implementation.
  • He/she should be able to communicate with the clients, community leaders, project beneficiaries and stakeholders in vocational skills training in an efficient manner by demonstrating his/her proficient oral and written communication skills and abilities
  • He/she should be well versed with basic computer skills (Microsoft word, excel and power-point)
  • Those with experience in youth development/training programming including digital M&E approaches will have an added advantage.
  • He/she should possess excellent problem solving and time management skills
  • He must be adaptable to the changing situations of the organization
