World Relief Malawi invites applications from interested and qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position:

Position : Project Coordinator (Church Empowerment WR/TOCP Project)

Reports to : Program Coordinator, Church Empowerment

Location : Lilongwe, Malawi

Key Responsibilities

World Relief is looking for a dynamic young person of good Christian testimony to occupy the position Project Coordinator, (Church Empowerment WR/TOCP Project). He/she will report to the Program Coordinator of Church Empowerment. The overall purpose of the post is to equip and empower local churches to serve the most vulnerable in their communities leading to Physical, Economical, Spiritual and Social transformation; by building the church capacity to develop sustainable and replicable church led ministries that lead to church initiated community based development.

The successful person will be responsible for Capacity Building for Church Empowerment, implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation, Grant management, Reporting and Coordination, networking and public relations with partners and other key stakeholders

Essential Functions

1. Capacity Building for Church Empowerment, implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Provide support to project staff to develop and follow through local church based holistic approach using the Detailed implementation tool kits (DIG 2.0).
  • Organize and facilitate training programs for Thandizo Orphan care staff
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of Mazengera CEZ plans, interventions and budgets in collaboration with other programs and finance team
  • Provide support in monitoring and evaluation system for Thandizo Orphan Care ministry in Mazengera CEZ
  • Facilitate quarterly project technical reviews and planning meetings

2. Grant Management
  • Develop grant agreements based on agreed milestones and budgets
  • Ensure timely disbursement of funds after the partner has fulfilled agreed obligations
  • Follow through all Mazengera CEZ budgets and ensure activities are implemented timely in liaison with Program Leaders and/or Consulting agencies.
  • Monitor and track Mazengera Church Engagement expenses according to budget in conjunction with finance personnel.
  • Assist the annual budget projection and review financial reports for the program.
  • Properly manage the budget to cater for all activities as planned in the proposal agreement
  • Develop and/or contribute towards the development of proposals for funding for the Mazengera CEZ
  • Assist Thandizo Orphan Care in their annual budget projections for the project

3. Reporting
  • Consolidate monthly, quarterly and annual church empowerment matrix and reports from Mazengera CEZ and timely submit them to Church Empowerment Program Coordinator, CD, DoP, M & E and other relevant staff
  • Consolidate monthly, quarterly and annual grant financial reports for Mazengera CEZ and timely submit to the Assistant Finance Manager

4. Coordination, networking and public relations with partners and other key stakeholders
  • Provide leadership for all partner trips and ensuring effective participation from both World Relief Malawi and partner team members
  • Facilitate introductory and debrief meetings when partner teams visit the project_
  • Develop training materials and facilitate partner team training where necessary
  • Networking with other NGOs, local government officials and other relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure the Mazengera CEZ project partners collaborate with relevant stakeholders in all areas of operation
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Public Health, Theology, community development, Public Health, Agriculture, Social sciences or any related field to World Relief core Programs.
