Programme Specialist - Health Justice

Position: Programme Specialist - Health Justice 

Fixed Term Contract: 3 years

About the role

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator-Health Justice, the Programme Specialist-Health Justice will support the Program coordinator in analysing political, social and Health trends in Malawi and lead formulation, management and evaluation of programme activities within his/her workstream, as well as providing strategic policy advice support to project partners. The Programme Specialist Health Justice is charged with daily management of the Health justice workstream activities; management of projects and initiatives; oversight of monitoring and evaluation efforts; quality assurance of donor and other reports writing; participation in strategic planning and work plan development; and implementation of capacity building and professional development programs for project partners. The post serves as a key advisor to the Program Coordinator Health Justice on matters of organizational integrity within the Health justice workstream

About you

Candidates applying for this role should have the following:

  • Bachelor degree in Public Health/Community Health or related disciplines in the field.
  • You must have experience in HIV/AIDS Programming: one focusing on key populations - having experience working with female sex workers (FSM) and men who have sex with men MSM or you must have experience working on TB activities and general population.
  • Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment; to follow projects through to completion, consistently on schedule, without loss of attention to detail and budget;
  • At least 5 years of experience in project management, including planning, budgeting, monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning.
  • Adaptability and ability to work in conditions of change and ambiguity, and to stretch oneself to adopt new skills which respond to changing circumstances and challenges;
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent listening and communication skills with sensitivity to cultural communication differences;
  • Flexibility and willingness to work simultaneously on a wide range of tasks and projects across the team, and ability to prioritize tasks.
