Job Description

Centre for Environmental Policy and Advocacy (CEPA) is a nongovernmental organization that promotes sustainable environment and natural resources management. The organization’s vision is a just and equitable society that promotes sustainable development. CEPA focuses on natural resources, biodiversity and climate change.

CEPA seeks to fill the following position:

Position: Programme Officer (Climate Change)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting on project based activities;
  • Facilitating policy research and analysis in climate resilience;
  • Developing and facilitating policy advocacy processes;
  • Facilitating uptake of evidence based policy issues in civil society platforms;
  • Facilitating policy dialogue in climate change including engagement in strategic policy platforms for advocacy;
  • Developing and implementing communication strategies on climate resilience;
  • Documenting tested innovations and lessons on climate change adaptation and resilience building; and
  • Generating and disseminating information and knowledge products through media engagement and online platforms.

Position: Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree, preferably masters level in climate change, public policy or related fields;
  • Demonstrated documentation, dissemination and management skills;
  • Proven experience in evidence based learning and sharing;
  • Working knowledge in Government of Malawi policies and legislation related to climate change;
  • Ability to work in a team, manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines; and
  • Excellent computer skills.
