Good Neighbors International-Malawi (GNI) is an international humanitarian and development organization in General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC) with its headquarters in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Good Neighbors Malawi currently implements various community development projects regarding child health, education and sanitation and income generation.

Position: Programmes Manager

Role description

Under the supervision of the Country Director, the Programme Manager role requires effective co-ordination of the programme’s projects and management of their inter-dependencies including oversight of any risks and issues arising. It also includes the co-ordination of the new capability and ideas to enable effective change and achieve projected objectives and goals

The Programme Manager is responsible for the overall integrity and Smooth running of programmes.

He/ She will develop and maintain the programme environment to support each project undertaken by Good Neighbor International (Malawi Office)

Key duties and Responsibilities

• Planning and designing the programme and proactively monitoring its progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective action
• Defining clearly programme’s governance, Risk mitigation and Project objectives.
• Ensuring high level of integrity, honesty and good ethical conduct.
• Managing the programme’s budget, monitoring expenditure and costs against deliverables and realized benefits as the programme progresses
• Setting clear Instructions to subordinate in the project teams to be followed in the field
• Ensuring that all requested materials and projects Activity plans are timely implemented at appropriate level of quality, and within budget.
• Ensuring there is allocation of human resources and skills within the programme’s individual projects
• Managing communications with all stakeholders
• Reporting the progress of the programme at regular intervals to the HQ, Country Director and Management.

The programme manager should possess the following:

• Should have minimum of 7 years experience in Community Development
• Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
• The ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the members of the project teams and all stakeholders
• Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling
• Have knowledge and experience of VSL, MFI, Income Generating project, Health, WASH, Education,Child Protection and food Security programmes
• Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures
• Having the clear abilities to find ways of solving problems at office and field level
• Bachelors in relevant Degree or Diploma in Community Development.
