Job Description

With support from Korean National Commission for UNESCO (KNCU), Malawi National Commission for UNESCO (MNCU) is implementing a Bridge Malawi Project (Phase II) in Community Learning Centres (CLCs) namely Mwera in Lilongwe, Naphini in Zomba and Namiyango in Blantyre. Through the project, Ibuzya CLC in Chitipa will be established soon. The goal of the project is to contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 and realize the Incheon Declaration (towards inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning for all) through non-formal education. MNCU is looking for a Project Manager who will coordinate the project activities. 

Position: Project Manager

The Project Manager will serve on a one-year Contract arrangement subject to renewal based on performance and availability of funding.

Key responsibilities

The Project Manager shall be reporting to the Executive Secretary and shall be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Managing, directing and coordinating all project activities with strict adherence to annual plans and budgets.
  • Advising the MNCU Management team on key planning and reporting issues, project delivery and making recommendations on crucial decisions.
  •  Communicating effectively with the CLCs, relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and KNCU
  •  Monitoring and Evaluating project activities
  •  Documenting project activities
  •  Preparing monthly progress reports for :he project activities
  •  Performing other relevant duties as requested by the Executive Secretary and KNCU.

  • • Have good leadership and team building skills
    • Be result oriented, decisive, self-motivated, assertive and a natural team builder with excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
    • Be of high integrity, professional and team player.
    • Strict adherence to deadlines
    • Proficient in IT and Microsoft Package; i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • Have sound publicity skills in promoting project visibility through social media, website and other online platforms.
    • Ability to interact with a wide range of professionals and grassroots communities.
    • Be conversant with online platforms for virtual meetings
    • Be familiar with implementation of donor funded projects

    Qualifications and Experience

    The ideal candidate should have a minimum qualification of Bachelor’s Degree in Education obtained from an accredited institutor of higher learning. Those with Master’s Degree from a recognised University will have an added advantage. The applicant must have a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a relevant field.
