Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons of Malawi origin to fill the following vacant post tenable in the company.


The position is tenable at Head Office Blantyre.

Person Specifications

  • Physically fit.
  • a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or its equivalent and a relevant post graduate qualification obtained from reputable institution, with at least seven years post qualification experience of which five years should be at Managerial level.
  • Those with the above qualifications and have a background in engineering, finance and economics will have an added advantage.
  • Should be above 35 years old.
  • Should possess good analytical, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and decision-making skills, and be creative with high degree of understanding of local and international procurement procedures and practice.
  • Should be a registered member of MIPS or CIPS-UK

Job Specifications

  • Providing leadership and direction in all matters relating to acquisition of goods works and services.
  • Managing efficiently the development of a professional and high quality procurement service.
  • Managing, directing and coordinating the procurement activities of the Company in strict compliance with the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Act, the Regulations and Instructions while adhering to current best practice in the profession
  • Preparation of Procurement plans through assessment of needs, corporate plans and budgets, corporate priorities and forecasts
  • Preparation of cost estimates, budgets and forecast for the Procurement Department and reporting on trends, variances, challenges and risks
  • Positioning the Procurement Department to become the reliable, proactive service provider for the Divisions of the Company
  • Setting and maintaining professional standards throughout each stage of the procurement cycle from Needs Assessment, Bid solicitation, Evaluation, Awards, Contract Management, Record Keeping and Supplier Appraisal
  • Preparation and review of Bidding Documents for procurement of goods, works and services
  • Drafting procurement contracts for goods, works and services
  • Provide the contract management services including arranging for proper inspection, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions of contracts, addressing delays, troubleshooting problems, assisting in amendments, ensuring completion of works and delivery of goods.
  • Provision of objective expert advice to the Internal Procurement Committee (IPC) on procurement policy and practice while also providing secretarial services to the Committee as well as being the link between the Company and the Office of the Director of Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA)
  • Arranging Internal Procurement Meetings in consultation with the Chairperson of the Internal Procurement Committee of the Company
  • Any other relevant duties as assigned from time to time
