Job Description

Blantyre Water Board, a government-owned institution established and reconstituted under the Water Works Act No. 17 of 1995 to supply potable water to people of Blantyre City and other surrounding areas will be carrying out a meter validation project. This project will primarily focus on the verification of all meter readings within the Board’s supply area. As part of the implementation of the project, the Board is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following temporary positions for a duration of two (2) months:


Applicants must have the following attributes:-
  • Must have Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE);
  • Must be 22 years and above;
  • Must have at least CIPS certificate in purchasing and supply;
  • Must have 2 years practical experience;
  • Must be a self-starter, innovative, smart,
  • Must be a self-starter, innovative, smart, mature and well organized;
  • Must be computer literate especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Must be able to plan procurement activities;
  • Must be able to write reports;
  • Must have a good purchasing background;
  • Must be trustworthy and responsible:
  • Must be good at Mathematics.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:-
  • Assisting in compiling procurement reports;
  • Managing Requests For Quotations (RFQs);
  • Compiling internal purchase requisitions from user sections in order to write RFQs:
  • Preparing comparative sheets for quotations;
  • Writing Local Purchase Orders (LPOs) and ensuring that they are countersigned by respective sectional and departmental heads;
  • Liaising with clearing agents and the bank on foreign purchases and reconciliation of accounts with foreign suppliers;
  • Following upon undelivered items;
  • Producing progress reports;
  • Assisting during tender preparation up to tender opening;
  • Performing any other duties assigned from time to time.
