Job Description

Blantyre Water Board is a government-owned institution established and reconstituted under the Waterworks Act of 1995 to supply potable water to residents of the City of Blantyre City and other surrounding areas. Blantyre Water Board is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following vacant positions:


Purpose of the Job

To operate and man pumping plant, and record operational and reservoir data.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Operating pumps according to set procedures.
  •  Dosing chemicals for treatment and purification of water appropriately.
  •  Back washing water treatment filters when required
  •  Recording plant and equipment data: & amperage, voltage, power factor, pressures.
  •  Monitoring and recording water levels from the source and reservoirs.
  •  Performing any other duties assigned from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Grade I National Trade Test Certificate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering/Part II City and Guilds Certificate in Electrical/mechanical Engineering
  • At least three (3) years proven work experience in water production field
  • Additional Skills and Abilities
  • Leadership skills and Organization skills.
  • Ability to exercise own initiative and judgment

  • self-starter and innovative
