Job Description

St. Michael`s Guilleme Community Hospital is one of the hospitals under Archdiocese of Lilongwe.

The Hospitals mission is to provide the preventive, curative, promotional and rehabilitative health care services in holistic manner in accordance with the needs of the communities and call to compassion and having respect for dignity of the person in line with Catholic core values and principles.

To achieve its mission statement, the Hospital is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position:


POSITION: PHARMACY TECHNICIAN



Grade: K


Location: St. Michael`s Guilleme Community Hospital


Department: Clinical


Reporting Officer: Senior Pharmacy Technician.


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting the Senior pharmacy technician in checking drug stocks and making orders from the stores
  • Receiving prescriptions from out and in-patients and checking dosage and prescription particulars
  • Prepacking medication ready for dispensing to in and out patients
  • Dispensing the prescribed medication to patients and giving instructions on how to take and store them
  • Maintain the clean work environment by conducting dump dusting in the pharmacy
  • Ensure correct drug storage
  • Monitor drugs using HIMS tools and guidelines and report to the designated supervisor
  • Management of pharmaceutical and other medical suppliers for hospital wards and other department
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in Pharmacy from a reputable training institution with 2 years experience in a busy environment.
  • Registered with Pharmacy, medicine and Poisons Board of Malawi.


KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY AND SKILLS

  • Well conversant with the Health system in Malawi
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Effective communication skills
  • Problem identification and solving skills
  • Empathetic and friendly.
