Beit CURE International Hospital (BCIH) is a Christian mission hospital providing free orthopedic health care for children in Beit CURE International Hospital Malawi is a teaching hospital that specializes in treating the orthopedic needs of children and adults. The hospital runs as a Christian charity and margins made on adult health care help in providing free care to the needy children of Malawi. The adult orthopedic service covers mostly the common orthopedic conditions such as arthroscopy, total hip & knee replacement and fracture fixation. The BCIH champions the cause of children and families burdened with physically disabling conditions that can be corrected or alleviated through surgical interventions. PATIENT RELATIONS OFFICER (REF: BCIH/21/01)
PURPOSE:
The job holder reports directly to the Hospital Patient Coordinator (HPC). The purpose of this job is to build and provide a link between the BCIHM hospital functions. patients arid their guardians/ families. The job holder is expected to resolve any problems that arise and act as a mediator for the health care and treatments that are provided by the BCIHM to the patients.The primary functions include answering enquiries, receiving feedback from patients and their relatives on the services of the hospital.
The Patient Relations Officer (PRO) will act as a mediator and be responsible for responding to patients’ complaints and ensure that patients are provided with a positive experience while they are being treated both efficiently and effectively. The PRO will also ensure that complaints on orthopedic services of the hospital are handled promptly and appropriately.
In essence, the PRO creates a bridge between hospitals and patients/families and is expected to keep patients’ rights in mind, and act as truth patient advocate.
