Institutional Background

Jhpiego is an international, non-profit health organization affiliated with the Johns Hopkins University. Jhpiego has been working in Malawi since 1999 implementing a wide-range of interventions in maternal health, family planning, HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment. Current projects include facility and community-based HIV testing services, and HIV prevention.

 

Jhpiego Malawi With funding from PEPFAR through CDC is implementing a Faith and Community Initiative (FCI) project entitled “Strengthening the Delivery, Coordination and Monitoring of HIV services in Malawi through Faith Based Institutions and will be working with Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) . The program aims to engage Faith Communities to Find Men and Children Living with HIV by increased utilization of HTS in selected districts in Malawi to support the attainment of the 95-95-95 goals, in alignment with PEPFAR and Malawian Government priorities. This includes increasing access to and demand for HTS, improving linkages from HTS to other services, and improving quality of HTS.

 

The program intends to recruit suitable and a qualified staff for the vacant positions below: The program is anticipated to start early June 2021 until September 2021.

Reports to: FCI District Coordinator

 

Position Summary

The Operation Triple Zero Program Officer (OTZ Officer) will provide oversight in the Operation Triple Zero program which aims at ensuring Adolescents and Young People living with HIV (AYPLHIV) have the access to HIV management including Anti-Retroviral treatment through differentiated service delivery like Teen clubs.  She/he works under close guidance and support from the FCI District Coordinator to ensure establishment of OTZ facilities for the AYPLHIV and an implementation of quality assured care and treatment services.

 

Required Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Competencies

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine or Nursing and Midwifery. Those with Degree will have an added advantage.
  • Must have successfully completed the Clinical Management of HIV and TB in Adults and Children training.
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in the health sector programs with focus on HIV Clinical management in adolescents.
  • Should have sound understanding of HIV/HTS services including understanding of the health sector policies and program frameworks pertaining to HIV/HTS.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills in English and Chichewa.
  • Demonstrated experience working with NGOs/CBO’s.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate with variety of coordinators including District level managers, technical assistance, NGOs and community level based organizations and expert clients.  
  • Need to be familiar with Malawian culture and Health Systems,
  • Past record of working effectively in multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary, multi-organizational team environment
  • Working literacy in Word, Excel and Email (Outlook).    
  •  Motivated, passionate, and hard working.
