Job Description

Médecins Sans Frontières, (MSF) is an international independent medical humanitarian organization working together with the Ministry of Health in Chiradzulu district on HIV program.


MSF-FRANCE is recruiting suitable candidate for the position of:

Nurse for the “Enhanced Monitoring of Efavirenz to Dolutegravir Transition” (EMEDT) Study, based in Chiradzulu

General Duties:

  • Eligibility screening of HIV-patients on Efavirenz-based first line ARV or those initiating first line ARV to participate in the study
  • Explaining study procedure to patients and seeking written informed consent from eligible patients who accept to participate in the study
  • Measurement of vital signs of study participants at each study visit prior to patient evaluation by clinical officer
  • Collection of biological samples for laboratory tests as prescribed by clinical officer and ensuring the samples are transported to the laboratory
  • Ensuring that prescribed antiretrovirals (ARV) are dispensed to the patients.
  • Administration of treatment as prescribed by clinical officer and ensuring patients understand dosage and duration of treatment.
  • Scheduling of patient appointment visit dates and ensuring the visit dates are respected.
  • Complying with MSF terms of conduct.
  • Other duties as assigned by the field principal investigator

Contract details

  • Three months contract: August to October 2020
  • Intended start date: August 2020

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Essential: recognised nurse degree/diploma; registered with the Medical Council of Malawi
  • Desirable: bachelors’ in nursing sciences
  • Desirable two years’ experience in HIV-related fields
  • Previous working experience with MSF or another NGO is an advantage
  • Fluent in English and Chichewa, both written and oral
  • Empathetic, team player, committed and respectful
