World Vision International in Malawi is currently looking for dedicated professional Christians to fill the vacant positions below for the anticipated Global Fund HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria program to be implemented during 2021 – 2023 implementation period in Malawi. National Social, Behaviour Change and Communications Manager- Malaria, HIV\/AIDS and TB) (Grade 16)1 Position based at the National Office, in Lilongwe

Purpose of the position

The position will provide technical oversight and lead of social and behavior change communication interventions and key activities which will result in high uptake of interventions by beneficiaries on Malaria, HIV/AIDS and TB. The incumbent will provide expert technical guidance and inputs to the project’s strategies, and work plan activities to ensure the projects interventions and messages are locally relevant, culturally appropriate; and address the country’s prioritized malaria, HIV/AIDS and TB SBCC needs.

Major Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing leadership and technical guidance in the development and implementation of malaria, HIV/AIDS and TB -SBCC strategies, approaches, messages and activities
  • Providing malaria, HIV/AIDS and TB technical advice and guidance during the regionalization of the project’s SBCC strategies, which will include outreach, communication and training activities to partners, local government and organizations
  • Generating new ideas and innovations in our approaches and thinking in relation to SBCC interventions for malaria prevention drawing on good practice and evidence from elsewhere
  • Working closely with the project’s creative partners to inform the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of two integrated and comprehensive SBCC strategies
  • Fostering a strong working relationship with the project’s primary partner the Government of Malawi, to secure their technical inputs and buy in project’s strategies, messages and activities
  • Act as the project focal person in SBCC Technical Working Groups and represent World Vision in all meetings relating to the same.
  • Identifying and adapting best practice SBCC processes, implementation guidelines, job aids and Interpersonal Communication tools to guide the development of the project’s campaigns and community level SBCC interventions
  • Collaborating with government implementing partners to identify and ensure where feasible their malaria. HIV/AIDS and TB SBCC needs are being addressed

Required knowledge, Professional Education Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or Environmental Health with related experience in managing Global Fund, PEPFAR or any other big grant, possession of an advanced Degree such as Master of Public Health will be an added advantage.
  • Expertise in conducting barrier analysis to identify behavioral determinants, so that more effective behavior change, communication messages. strategies, and supporting activities can be developed.
  • At least 6 – 7 years’ work experience with a public health intervention, development or marketing organization, of these at least five years should be at management level capacity, leading the development and implementation of BCC/SBCC initiatives.
  • Expertise and experience in senior capacity working with print, mass media, ICTs and other electronic media required
  • In addition to possessing communication capacity, technical expertise in research analysis and application preferred.
  • Knowledge of public health issues in Malaria is critical and in one or more of the following areas strongly preferred
  • HIV/AIDS, Family Planning, reproductive health, maternal and child health, and TB.
  • Significant experience of working collaboratively with government agencies specifically Ministry of Health and National Malaria Control Program, National Aids Commission and National TB Control and Health Education Services
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills are essential, including ability to present concepts verbally.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a variety of audiences and organizations essential.
