Job Description

COMSIP Cooperative Union Limited is a member owned organization with a national footprint. It is a secondary cooperative, registered under the Cooperative Societies Act 1998. COMSIP works with rural and peri-urban community groups that are owned, managed and controlled by members themselves and its main thrust is building a culture of savings and investment among ordinary Malawians in a quest to improve livelihoods.

COMSIP is an implementing agency in the Malawi Social Support for Resilient Livelihoods Project (MSSRLP), a government of Malawi project supported by the World Bank.

With funding from the World Bank through the National Local Government Finance Committee (NLGFC) COMSIP therefore intends to use part of the funding to recruit suitably qualified, experienced, and result oriented project staff for the following posts to be based in Lilongwe and Mzuzu.

Position: Monitoring & Evaluation Officer

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer shall report to the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Maintain the project database for the project to attain high standards in monitoring outputs.
  • Assist in developing data collection and reporting tools to ensure standardized reporting and meeting all data requirements for donor and internal reporting.
  • Orient and build capacity of field staff, on data collection tools
  • Carry out routine data quality assessments.
  • Document project progress and lessons learnt.
  • Develop and maintain a good filling system for the project documents.
  • Coordinate implementation and monitoring of quality benchmarks.
  • Ensure timely submission of narrative reports are submitted in compliance with donor requirements.
  • Provide on-going support and mentorship to project staff on data management.
  • Facilitate beneficiary verification to ensure registered beneficiaries meet the inclusion criteria
  • Manage the beneficiary complaints and feedback mechanism – collection, analysis, and report writing for beneficiary feedback data


Qualifications and Experience required

  • A minimum Degree in Social Science or Bsc. Agriculture or Project Management and Development Studies
  • At least 4 years’ experience on database development and management.
  • Experience in working with donor funded projects
  • Adequate Knowledge and adherence to Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA)
