Institutional Background

Jhpiego is an international, non-profit health organization affiliated with the Johns Hopkins University. Jhpiego has been working in Malawi since 1999 implementing a wide - range of interventions in maternal health, family planning, HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment. Current projects include facility and community-based HIV testing services, and HIV prevention

Jhpiego intends to recruit suitable and a qualified staff for the vacant positions below:     


 

Post: Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Advisor - re-advertisement (1 post) Lilongwe  

 

 

The M&E Advisor will oversee the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) functions of the comprehensive HIV prevention and care and treatment project, working closely with digital health colleagues on electronic medical record (EMR) and health Informatics, and report to the MER Director. S/He will play a leadership role in M&E activities, including documentation, ongoing program monitoring and reporting to ensure that program M&E systems and structures are responsive, and are able to effectively monitor and track project results. S/He will be responsible for the integrity of all site level data, verification and quality assurance processes and reporting. S/He will provide high quality data reports utilizing data visualization tools, for routine donor reports as well as progress reviews. S/He will supervise regional M&E officers and support them with data capture, compilation, reporting, and develop their capacity to ensure high quality data is reported up. S/he will provide strategic inputs with the country program M&E team, to develop and implement high-standard M&E systems, tools and innovations, and will contribute to program learning and research.

 

 

Required Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Competencies

 

  • Masters degree in public health, demography, statistics or related discipline;
  • Minimum 7-8 years relevant experience in MER with documented success, with extensive experience and mastery of M&E systems, practices, standards and innovations;
  • Excellent knowledge of statistics and epidemiology with ability to design and conduct quantitative and qualitative studies;
  • Experience working in PEPFAR funded projects is required
  • Strong working knowledge of Malawian Government and PEPFAR public health/HIV priorities;
  • Experience managing, supervising and motivating staff, and addressing performance challenges;
  • Highly proficient in use of SPSS/STATA/ EPI info, Excel, MS Word, power point. Familiarity with DHIS2 application and PowerBi an advantage;
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral presentation skills; articulate in written/ spoken English
  • Experience in training and facilitation on MER systems development, maintenance and improvement, including proficiency in managing field data collection work, including familiarity with IT enabled tools (cell phones, PDAs)
