United Purpose (UP) Malawi is an international non-governmental organisation working to create opportunities for lasting improvement in peoples’ lives. We work in partnership with others to support a range of livelihoods and food security, WASH and health, sustainable energy and gender equality programmes reaching over 1,000,000 people a year across Malawi. Globally, we work in nine countries across Africa, Asia and South America, however our Malawi programme is by far and away our largest and most established country programme with a turnover of around £10m p/a. UP currently operates in 17 districts in Malawi, supporting over 30 on-going projects, with a total staff of over 250.
With funding from the Livelihoods Fund (LVF), UP will be launching a new project in Machinga and Zomba districts which will provide 60,000 households with an improved cookstove known as the Chitetezo Mbaula. 30,000 households will be reached with free distributions through our Social Cash Transfer approach, while 30,000 will be sold to surrounding households in two target Traditional Authorities. The community will be incentivised to purchase a stove by linking food and WASH incentives to certain levels of community adoption. As such, the project will also repair up to 200 boreholes in the target TAs if the communities reach 60% adoption of Chitetezo Mbaula.
Reporting to Project Manager and Programme Manager - Energy
The M&E Officer is responsible for all monitoring and data collection relating to the stoves and generation of carbon credits for the funder. This is an absolutely critical role that requires excellent attention to detail and organizational skills when dealing with large amounts of data.
