Job Description

CUMO is a not-for-profit microfinance company providing financial services to mostly productive women at village level in central, southern and northern regions of Malawi.

Consistent with its growth plan, CUMO seeks to recruit qualified and competent individual to join its team in the following position:


Job Title: MIS Officer (1 position)


Nature of Contract: 3 years


Duty Station: Dedza


Reporting to: The MIS Manager


Job Summary

Working closely with the MIS Manager, the MIS Officer will be responsible for proper maintenance of ICT systems and provision of required technical support to system users.


Specific Duties

  • • Managing and supporting the major systems including the organizations core banking system, the domain controller, internet/email system and the entire LAN environment.
    • Installation, configuration and upgrading of software
    • Ensure anti-virus software is up to date
    • Maintaining, troubleshooting and upgrading all computer hardware including servers, workstations mobile devices, printers and other peripheral equipment.
    • Implementing backup and recovery procedures including carrying out test restorations
    • Maintaining database integrity by ensuring data is correctly captured and reports are produced timely.
    • Assess the adequacy of existing software systems and recommend improvement
    • Providing technical guidance in procurement and installation of computer hardware and their efficient use
    • Any other duties as assigned by the MIS Manager.


    Qualifications & Competencies

    • • A minimum of a Degree in IT obtained from a recognized institution with three years experience working in IT field.
      • High proficiency in installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing software, hardware and computer peripherals
      • Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting LAN and domain based systems
      • Considerable experience and knowledge in installing and supporting Windows operating systems and MS Office products
      • Knowledge and experience in working with relational database management systems.
      • Knowledge of current trends in information technology
      • Good analytical and communication skills.
