Medecins Sans Frontieres, (MSF) is an international independent medical humanitarian organization working together with the Ministry of Health in Chiradzulu district on HIV program.

MSF-FRANCE is recruiting suitable candidates for the position of:

Mental Health Nurse (1 position) based Chiradzulu

The HIV/TB project of MSF France in Chiradzulu is looking for a Mental Health Nurse to join their Patient Support Team. This team provides a range of services to people living with HIV/TB including HIV counselling and education, and mental health and psycho-social support. The Mental Health Nurse will attend to the most complex cases within the MSF cohort.

General Duties

• Provide high standard of mental health nursing and follow-up to patients living with HIV
• Ensure that patients receive proper treatment including psychotropic medication and psychosocial support.
• Follow-up of patients’ mental health evolution, identifying possible emergency situations arising and keeping the medical team informed
• Deliver psychological health education to patients on mental health issues
• Facilitate support groups and run group therapy sessions.
• Carry out administrative procedures and documents.

Contract Details: Six-month contract renewable, including six weeks’ probation period

Basic salary of MWK338,112 plus housing and transport allowance, pension contribution and a full medical insurance cover for the employee and his/her dependants.

Intended start date: Mid-August 2019

Working hours: 07:30-16:30 Tuesday to Saturday. Schedule determined by Administration; occasionally on Mondays and public holidays, as flexibility is required.

Skills & Qualifications

• Diploma /Degree in Mental Health/ Psychiatric Nursing
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in mental health
• HIV related medical knowledge is desirable
• Fluent in Chichewa and English
