Médecins Sans Frontières, (MSF) is an international independent medical humanitarian organization working together with the Ministry of Health in Chiradzulu district on HIV program.

 

MSF-FRANCE is recruiting suitable candidates for the position of:

Medical Activity Manager

Position based in Chiradzulu

 

Defining, coordinating and monitoring the medical activities under his/her responsibility according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures in order to ensure the delivery of quality medical care for patients and their communities as well as to improve the health condition of the target population.

 

Accountabilities:

• Coordinating, assessing and supervising the proper functioning of the medical activities (HIV, TB, STIs, SRH, etc.), according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures and through analysis of medical data regarding patients’ health conditions.
• Participatein annual planning and budget for the project and in the follow up of the programs. Supervising and ensuring that medical activities objectives under his/her responsibility are achieved, reporting to the technical referent anyproblem arising in the service.
• Checking all administrative procedures related to patients’ follow-up and according to MSF procedures.
• In coordination with the project biomedical service supervising the appropriate use of medical devices and anticipating future needs.
• Coordinating and monitoring the daily working plan of the team under his/her responsibility.
• Planning and supervising, with the HR department, HR processes (recruitment, training, performance evaluation, development and internal communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to improve staff capabilities.
• Participating in the monthly and quarterly reports according to guidelines (i.e. SitReps, medical statistical reports, etc.).

 

Specific Accountabilities

• Coordinating and supervising the medical activities of the comprehensive teen clubs on Saturdays in close collaboration with the Patient Support Activity Manager (PSAM):
  • Collaborate closely with PSAM in implementing the curriculum during the CTC.
  • Collaborate closely with PSAM in implementing the SRH program in the Teen Clubs.
• Coordinating, assessing and supervising the proper organization and functioning of the intensive clinic days from Tuesday to Friday in close collaboration with the CAM.
• Supervising the hospitalization strategy and activity:

• Participate in ward rounds together with HIV/TB doctor on a regular basis (twice per week).
• Report dysfunctions in hospitalisation or in collaboration with hospital team to MFP in order to address them and find solutions.

• Supervising the follow up of patients failing on 2^ndline and the cohort of 3^rdline patients and participate in case discussions after genotypes results are available to decide on an optimal treatment regimen for each patient.
• Collaborate with the MoH counterparts for the smooth functioning of all the Medical Activities.
• Coordinating, assessing and supervising the development and implementation of an integrated SRH and Nutritional Support program.
• Ensure that medical protocols are developed and are available. Working closely with the MFP, CAM and the HIV/TB doctor for the development and implementation of those protocols. Communicateany change of protocols or clinical strategy with the MFP and pharmacy, in order to avoid any stock outs or inconveniences regarding (international) orders.
• Make sure that M+ forms for the Medical Activities are always available, support the MFP in the quarterly order and collaborate with the rest of the Medical Team in case there is need for modifications.
• Collaborate closely with the Lab. Team to ensure that sample collections, analysis and results availability run smoothly during ICDs, CTCs and for the hospital.
• Data monitoring, collecting and reporting:

• Monitor and collect data from teen clubs, intensive clinic days and SRH-activities when needed in collaboration with the Epi department.
• Provide data and input regarding analyses and narrative for the quarterly report.

Other accountabilities:

• Shares problematic situations and cases with the MFP/PC for help with decision making and problem resolution.
• Identifies possible advocacy issues and informs MFP before taking any action.
• Conducts job performance evaluation for all staff under his/her direct responsibility in order to improve staff capabilities and to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Medical doctor or paramedical degree.
• Essential 2 years’ workexperience
• Computer literacy (word, excel, PowerPoint, outlook)
• Ability to speak English and Chichewa

 

Desirable

• Specialization or training in infectious diseases or related studies
• Previous experience in MSF or another health NGO in the field

Contract Details:

• 12-months contract renewable, including three months’ probation period
• Intended start date: Beginning of November 2019
• Working hours: 07:30-16:30 Tuesday to Saturday, occasionally on Mondays and public holidays as flexibility is required. Schedule determined by management
