Job Description

The Opportunity

Save the Children is inviting applications from suitably qualified personnel to fill the position of Livelihoods Field Monitor (15 positions) for Titukulane Project which is being implemented in Zomba; covering all Traditional Authorities. The role holder will be responsible for working with ultra-poor households, stakeholders and partners on all VSL and Entrepreneurship, Social Protection, Gender skills and focused technical details of project including planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation in coordination with other project field staff. He/she shall be responsible for conducting sensitization meetings, community mobilization and delivering technical support and oversight to community agents, mentors, and artisans to build their capacities.  He/she shall work in collaboration with the Program Integration Facilitators and Livelihoods Coordinator as well as government partners to reach out to the targeted beneficiaries and will take full responsibility of coordinating and make all logistics to ensure successful implementation of field activities. He/she will be responsible for timely reporting on all off – farm livelihoods interventions, lessons learnt and challenges that need attention of supervisors. He/she shall be responsible for developing monthly detailed program activity implementation plans including expenditure projections and other appropriate requirements. He/She shall also be responsible for facilitating planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all market related interventions in coordination with the immediate supervisor with the support from Livelihoods Coordinator. He/she shall provide technical support for conducting baseline, performance and impact monitoring and end of program surveys where necessary.

Please note that the positions are based in a local village community and would suit those who are currently living in or close to the implementing villages; or are comfortable to live there.


In order to be successful you will bring/have:

  • Minimum of a Certificate in Community Development, Gender or Enterprise Development or other appropriate social and development fields such as Social Science, Sociology, Development Studies, or Rural Development. Those with a Diploma in the relevant subject will have an added advantage.
  • 3 years’ extensive experience in extension activities, community mobilization, VSLAs and working with youth groups.
  • Excellent Team Player
  • Good communication skills and team work
  • Must be well organized and capable of completing multiple tasks before a deadline.
  • Self-starter and creative.
  • Community mobilization and sensitization skills.
  • Ability to deliver an effective training to community volunteers.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders in the program.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Sound report writing skills.
  • Willing to intensively travel in rural areas.
  • Valid motorcycle driving license
