Job Description

Evangelical Bible College of Malawi (EBCoM) is a Christian inter-denominational College which was established in 1964 to train pastors and other Christian workers who serve in different churches and the society in Malawi and neighbouring countries. EBCoM invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons as follows:

Job Title: Librarian

Accountable to: Director of Library Services

Job Summary: Responsible for the daily Library services to the students and staff

Responsible over: Library services

Date to report for duties: Immediately after an appointment is made

Qualifications

• Certificate in Library with two years’ experience in the similar job with a well-established and competent institution.
• Should be a God-fearing born again Christian of an Evangelical Denomination.
• Able to work with less or no supervision.
• Attentive to details, self-motivated, creative and proactive.
• Good written and spoken English.

Key Duties

• Search standard reference materials, including on-line sources and the Internet, in order to answer patrons reference questions.
• Analyse patrons requests to determine needed information, and assist in furnishing or locating that information.
• Teach library patrons to search for information using databases.
• Keep records of circulation and materials.
• Check books in and out of the library.
• Explain use of library facilities, resources, equipment, and services, and provide information about library policies.
• Review and evaluate resource materials, such as book, reviews and catalogs, in order to select and order print, audio-visual, and electronic resources.
