Job Description

The National Economic Empowerment Fund Limited (NEEF), a licensed Microfinance Institution wholly owned by the Government of Malawi invites applications from a suitably qualified person with proven hands-on experience to fill the following vacant position;

Position: Legal Services Manager (MF 3) (1 Tenable in Lilongwe)

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the job is to provide advice and guidance on legal risk, and policy development, to conduct litigation management, and oversee regulatory compliance and contract negotiations.

Keys duties and responsibilities:

  • Conducting Litigation on behalf of NEEF.
  • Liaising with external counsel on legal matters being handled by NEEF.
  • Acting as company secretary for NEEF Board.
  • Drafting and Reviewing contracts and agreements to which NEEF is a party to ensure compliance with the law and with the further aim of ensuring that the interests of NEEF are secured.
  • Providing legal protection and risk management advice to management especially on contract management and security perfection.
  • Reviewing and advising NEEF on legal implications of internal policies and procedures.
  • Continuously monitoring compliance with statutory obligations and advising NEEF accordingly.
  • Liaising with relevant departments to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate mitigation and remedial measures have been taken.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree obtained from a well-recognized and accredited university.
  • Unconditional admission to the Malawi bar.
  • Possession of a valid practice licence issued by the Malawi Law Society.
  • At least three (3) years’ similar experience in a corporate environment.

  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
