Job Description

Our client is seeking for energetic, aggressive, and self-motivated and result oriented individuals to join its team in the positions mentioned below:


Location: Blantyre

Job Purpose:

  • Provide special Education services to children with physical or learning disabilities.
  • Participate in ongoing training of community primary school teachers, rehabilitation staff, volunteers, and support staff.
  • Participate as a member of a cohesive interdisciplinary team to maximize the outcomes for the children and their teachers.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Student Interventions
  • Assess, identify needs, goals and plans for children with physical or learning disabilities in mainstream school.
  • Assess the school situation; Environment, Resources, Teacher’s ability to work with the student, Problems encountered.
  • To work together with the teacher and the rehabilitation staff to rectify the problems encountered.
  • Conduct home visits when appropriate.
  • Assess equipment needs of the children in collaboration with other staff and facilitate the provision of equipment to the children when appropriate.
  • To provide teaching and learning aids as appropriate.
  • Liase with other members of the interdisciplinary team to provide for all the needs of the students, this includes Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, Rehabilitation Technicians Nurses, Doctors and other special education teachers.
  • To provide accurate records of attendance, assessments and progress reports children not yet attending school.
  • To assess children who are school age but not yet attending primary school to determine which option Is best for them integrated at a primary school.
  • To liase with the appropriate personnel to facilitate enrolment
  • To liase and work with caregivers to educate them about the child’sneeds and appropriate treatment and management at school.
  • Design and implement workshop for caregivers as appropriate.
  • Participate in the ongoing formal and informal in-service training program.
  • To participate in meetings, contribute to the management and liaise with directors regarding issues concerning the individual needs of children and needs of the Special Education program.
