Job Description


Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Malawi is a local Non-Governmental Organization with over 25 years of experience in the implementation of development projects in the country, with multi-dimensional focus on the Community Development, Education, Agriculture and Health.

DAPP Malawi, with support from the Government of Malawi, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoY&S), is implementing a four (4) months Agri-Preneurial Training Course.

Objectives of the Project

The Jobs for Youth (J4Y) Project seeks to economically empower young women and men (18 to 35 years of age) for improved employability in decent work and sustainable entrepreneurship in Malawi. Specifically, the project is designed to address:


  • Lack of entrepreneurship mind-set as well as weaknesses in technical and business skills;
  • Lack of access to markets and information;
  • Lack of access to finance;
  • Weaknesses at the policy and regulatory level for the promotion of youth owned Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs); and
  • Low level of employment of youth by the existing private sector.


DAPP Malawi therefore seeks to hire services of qualified individuals for the position of:

Lead Trainer ( 1 Position)

Period: 4 Months


Specific Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and planning of the agri-preneurship training for the youth in the J4Y project.
  • Draft reports on completion of each training cohort for the project activities and inputs into narrative project reports.
  • Help the incubation manager in drafting, monitoring and managing activity budgets for agri-preneurshipwith support/oversight from DAPP Management.
  • Support the design and implementation of the monitoring framework and plan as it relates to agri-preneurial component of the J4Y project
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with relevant local stakeholders related to the J4Y project.
  • Work closely with, mentor and develop the capacity of relevant counterparts on the project team.
  • Provide support, guidance and advice to the whole team in the development and implementation of project activities.
  • Support the Incubation Manager in the program management and administration of the project as needed.
  • Liaise closely with the Incubation Manager, keeping him up to date on progress and problems as they arise.
  • Represent the project and DAPP Mikolongwe J4Y project in the absence of the Incubation Manager as required.
  • Any other duties that arise as appropriate


Qualifications and Attributes

  • Master’s Degree in Entrepreneurship, Agribusiness, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Commerce, Business Management or related fields;
  • The Lead Trainer should have expertise and a track record in successfully delivering entrepreneurship training;
  • At least 3 years’ experience (individual contract or non-cumulative) in designing and delivering entrepreneurship training materials;
  • Experience with experiential learning and action learning;
  • Proven experience and solid understanding of the skills development sector;
  • Proven experience in similar assignments; and
  • Strong communication, documentation and presentation skills in English.
