Job Description

NICO Technologies Limited a leading IT Company and Equal Opportunity Employer, has the following vacancy tenable at their Head Office in Blantyre.

Position: Lead – IT Infrastructure

The successful candidate will be responsible for installation, management and maintenance of server and network infrastructure.

The incumbent’s key areas of responsibilities among others shall be:


  • Development of IT infrastructure plans. execution, and monitoring in line with company’s and group strategy
  • Identify potential technology partnerships in line with sections plans and client demands to achieve Service level targets.
  • Analyse and identify potential area of service improvement for NICO Technologies.

Budget Management and Control of
  • Develop annual OPEX and CAPEX and income budget for IT infrastructure section as a contribution to the IT Operations budget
  • Presents the budget for approval to the head of Technology Operations and maintains a quality control to ensure that expenses are in line with budget.
  • Checks Recommends expenses incurred by infrastructure section in line with budget.
Service Management
  • Review and analyse and propose service fees based on client demands and cost of service delivery
  • Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to make the server and network capacity meets existing and future requirements.
  • Conduct quarterly systems performance assessments for network and server infrastructure and submit report with Head of Technology Operations

Technology, Software Quality and Risk Management
  • Conduct network performance tests and provide network performance statistics and reports.
  • Develop strategies for maintaining server and network infrastructure.
  • Work with the IT Service Delivery Lead for effective communication across the business on all Server and network infrastructure issues affecting the business.
Service Quality Control
  • Development and review of standard operating procedures for all processes carried out by the section.
  • Develop and review change management, incident management and Service request management policies and procedure to align IT best practices
  • Zero tolerance to undocumented IT changes through employee engagement across the organization and tracking of all changes made within the organization.

  • Advanced Network configuration and management skills
  • Advanced Server Virtualization skills.
  • Database management skills
  • Good business acumen and ability to negotiate with business partners.

  • Ability to develop strategic plans and translate them to actionable roadmaps.
  • Ability to initiate, build and maintain productive customer relationships.
  • Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change.
  • Strong collaboration skills to build teams across business boundaries.
  • Leadership skills to successfully lead large and diverse teams.
  • Drives operational improvements and efficiencies through the creation and implementation of rigorous process and controls, acts as a gatekeeper for quality.

Qualifications and Experience

  • BSc Information Technology from a recognised university
  • Microsoft or CISCO Certification
  • Minimum of three years experience in IT Management or supervision
  • ICTAM Member (Desirable)
