Job Description



Illovo Sugar (Malawi) plc is the country’s leading producer of raw and refined sugar as well as specialty sugar. Illovo Sugar (Malawi) plc invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Laboratory Technician based at Dwangwa Estate. The incumbent will be reporting to Laboratory Team Lead.

Position: Laboratory Technician




  • Diploma in Laboratory Technology
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a busy industrial or research laboratory
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel




The successful candidate will be responsible for:


  • Planning and supervising the daily work and performance of each employee on assigned shift
  • Adhering to standards setting for operating equipment and setting of equipment to correct specifications
  • Ensuring laboratory activities operate in accordance to defined best practices to maintain effective process quality assurance
  • Preparing reagents and other chemical formulations for analysis samples
  • Ensuring that all factory products are correctly and timorously sampled, composited, prepared and analysed.
  • Reporting on any out-of-spec product stream parameters to the relevant shift team members
  • Promote safety and food safety culture and adhere to Illovo SHERQ procedures, policy and guidelines.
