Job Description

The Junior Accountant is responsible for generating accurate financial statements for Malawi operations. This includes overseeing the recording of all routine transactions and complex/usual transactions. The junior accountant will also own the processes that ensure that VITALITE financial results are accurate, valid and complete in the line with the organization’s finance policies and procedures.

Additionally, coordinating with sales and service representatives to ensure accounting consistency and best practices, across all areas of operation will be key to your responsibilities. Your work will produce critical data that will drive organizational decisions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collect, analyze and summarize accounting information
  • Manage monthly and weekly close books process with sales and service centers and headquarters; ensure all cash accounts reconcile.
  • Record and manage petty cash ledgers
  • Perform necessary balance sheet reconciliations in line with internal policies
  • Provide weekly, monthly or quarterly reports on subsets of the trial balance.
  • Support external and internal audits as required
  • Perform ad hoc projects or tasks requested by supervisor or dept. lead.
  • Work with the General manager and extended Finance team to accomplish finance team goals.
  • Keep information confidential and secure them with random database backups.
  • Keep up with financial policies, regulation and legislation.
  • Coordinate supporting files on the back-end CRM database.

Qualifications:

We are seeking an exceptional communicator with at least 1+ year of marketing experience. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working in faced-paced environments, strong project management skills, and a keen attention to detail.

Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:
  • University degree in accounting, finance or other related fields.
  • 1+ years’ work experience in accounting
  • Language: English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft skills, particularly Microsoft excel.
  • Previous experience with ERP systems, SAP business One a plus
  • Attention to detail and experience working with remote teams a plus
  • Professional and proactive work attitude
  • Familiar with salesforce and/or quickbooks
  • Strong analytical skills and self-starter
  • Motivated & enthusiastic
  • Highly organized
