Job Description

Application are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant position of Investigator which is tenable at Agora Head Office.


Reports to: Security Manager Agora

Immediate subordinates: Nil

Job Summary

Will be tasked in proactive and reactive investigations to limit risk for Meridian Group of Companies and ensuring that all infringements involving members of the public and staff are fully investigated.


  • Assist with evaluation of the cost effectiveness of service providers and suppliers
  • Adhere to investigations budgets
  • Prevent further losses with the correct implementation of procedures
  • Conduct cost-effective investigations
  • Recover fund and stock
  • Branches and head office support in relation to queries pertaining to external client
  • Interact and provide feedback to relevant stakeholders in relation to investigations
  • Handle all summons received
  • Ensure fast responses to incidents via swift investigations
  • Allocate 'correct' (i.e. sufficiently skilled) resources to the investigation
  • Ensure appropriate feedback is attained from the relevant external investigator i.e. Malawi Police
  • Ensure that reports written by the investigator are comprehensive, easily understandable and are submitted to the correct people
  • Establish a strong network of contacts with other authorities to assist with investigations
  • Ensure that recovery processes are followed through
  • Procedures need to be revised and updated on an ad-hoc basis as problems/incidents occur which require improved procedures
  • Update procedures in the procedure’s manual

Experience, Minimum Skills and Qualifications Required

  • Diploma in Criminal Justice or Forensic Investigations or equivalent
  • 3 years of proven investigations/forensic experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Word, MS Excel and related programs
  • Knowledge of Criminal Procedure and Law of Evidence Act
  • Good writing skills and ability to compile report
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyse data, prepare records and reports
  • Police/military investigations experience
  • General understanding of Employee Relations and Human Resources, and be conversant with Disciplinary Codes and Procedures

All Meridian Group of companies Security Managers and guards

Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical, office setting and will require some travelling as well to perform investigations in remote areas.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5 pm and Saturday 9am to 12pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


Extensive travel will be done in Malawi to service Agora as part of Meridian Group of Companies.

Interact internally with:
The Investigations Manager, Head of Security, General Manager, Financial Controller, The Group Marketing Manager, partly Directors, PA to Directors, Administration Department, HR Department, Security Department, Finance Department, Purchasing Department and the inter companies

Interact externally with:
Police, Prosecutors and Government
