Job Description

COTTON COUNCIL OF MALAWI was established by the Cotton Act of 2013 with the mandate to regulate, develop and improve the cotton industry in Malawi.

The Vision of CCM is to become a progressive regulator effectively contributing to the economic development of a sustainable cotton industry.

The Mission of the council is to contribute to the growth of the cotton industry through development of standard and regulations, ensuring adherence to fair trade practices by value chain players, promotion of sustainable innovations and information sharing through a competent and committed workforce.

CCM wishes to recruit suitably qualified, experienced and dedicated individuals to fill the following posts:

Position: Internal Auditor

Duty Station: 

Reports to: 
Executive Director


Purpose of the position

The internal Auditor shall provide auditing and advisory services to management and the Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifying and assessing areas of significant business risk;
  • Implement best audit and business practices in line with applicable public service internal audit statements;
  • Managing resources for the unit and audit assignments;
  • Identifying and reducing all business and financial risk through effective implementation and monitoring of controls;
  • Compiling and implementing the annual internal Audit plan;
  • Conducting ad-hoc investigations into identified or reported risks;
  • Overseeing risk-based audits covering operational and financial process;
  • Ensuring complete, accurate and timely audit information is reported to the Board and/or Risk committees and
  • Overall supervision of planned annual audits.

Academic Qualifications and Experience

  • Should have either Bachelor’s Degree in Internal Auditing, Financial Accounting and any other related field;
  • Three (3) years of work experience in an internal audit environment; and
  • Should be affiliated to an appropriate professional body i.e. Institute of Internal Auditors Malawi (IIA), or Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi (ICAM).

  • High level of integrity.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
