Job Description

Malawi Red Cross Society is urgently seeking to engage the services of a suitably qualified, motivated, capable and experienced individuals to fill the vacant positions which have arisen tenable at its Head Office in Area 14, Lilongwe . The positions are as follows;

POSITION: INTERNAL AUDITOR

Purpose of the Job




The Internal Auditor will assist in the achievement of organization’s set goals and objectives by examining and evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of the governance processes, risk management and internal control systems.


Duties and Responsibilities

• The Internal Auditor will plan and organize internal audit activities including annual work plans.
• Conducts routine financial, operational and compliance audit tasks as assigned by the Internal Audit Manager.
• Assists in preparation of departmental budgets.
• Compiles and submits work papers for given assignments with applicable and necessary evidence to the Internal Audit Manager.
• Analyses evidence from audits and investigations and compiles draft reports of findings with recommendations.
• Follow up on the implementation of corrective/remedial measures performed by department heads with the objective of eliminating control gaps and or deficiencies identified in prior audits.
• Investigates alleged or suspected theft, fraud or mismanagement related financial and operational transactions of Malawi Red Cross Society.
• Performs adhoc projects audit from time to time through the Internal Audit Manager.

Educational and Professional Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Internal Auditing or Accounting with minimum of 3 years work experience

• Principles of risks and controls
• Analytical skills
• Sound ethics and integrity
• Willingness to travel frequently and at short notice.
• Good communication skills (written/oral).
• Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision.
